The SV postdoc association and the BioScience Network Lausanne are gladly continuing our collaboration with the Novartis Institute for Biomedical Research (NIBR) in Basel: the Novartis-EPFL-UNIL (NEU) Meeting. The second NEU meeting will take place on the 8th of December 2014 in Basel.
The aim of this meeting is to promote interactions among researchers conducting similar types of research in academia and in industry. PhD students and postdocs will have the opportunity to present their work, get feedback from NIBR scientists, hear about possible collaborations with NIBR, learn about their research and attend exclusive lab-visits at NIBR. We encourage you to present the dificulties in your project allowing for discussion with the NIBR scientists and opening up possible collaborations with them which might lift you project to another level. Please note that this meeting is not meant to be a job fair.

The tentative layout of the day is as follows:
• arrival to Basel at 9 AM (costs of transportation is on the participants)
• presentations from EPFL/UNIL scientists (3 talks each of 25 min)
• lunch break and poster session (27 posters from our side)
• presentations from NIBR scientists
• lab visits
• departure to Lausanne around 6PM
We are looking for PhD students and postdocs from EPFL and UNIL performing research in these areas:
1. Immunity and inflammation
2. Microbiota
3. Stem cells
4. Epigenetics
5. Oncology
6. Human genetics
7. Next generation sequencing and genomics
8. Proteomics
9. Neuroscience
10. Receptors and ligands
11. Organ regeneration
12. Physiology of disease
13. Biosensors

The registration deadline is the 20th of October 2014, 12:00. The organizing committee, together with reviewers from Novartis and external research institutes, will select participants for (poster) presentations based on their abstracts. The results of the selection will be communicated by November 10th, 2014. To ensure the selection of the best talks and speakers, 8 abstracts will be invited for a pre-selection (10 min short-talk) that will take place on the 24th of November, 2014.
