\r\nInformation Days - Architecture Section SAR
\r\nThis event is aimed at Swiss high school students, vocational schools offering a diploma, and international students. The Information Days include one day of presentations followed by one day of workshops. The architecture presentation (Novembre 18 and 19) covers key aspects of the architect profession and the foundations of the program. Career opportunities are also discussed, with questions answered by students from the architecture department. During the architecture workshop, emphasis is placed on practical learning. It includes a concrete exercise focused on observation and representation of spatial concepts, followed by group discussions in the afternoon.

EPFL Architecture is pleased to invite you to visit the exhibition of the Master students' work until July 31 at the Rolex Learning Center.
\r\nThe exhibition is divided into three distinct areas: the first brings together projects focused on resources and craftsmanship, such as wood, earth, and self-construction; the second features projects exploring urban and territorial scales; and the third presents work on social or individual housing, as well as interventions in existing buildings, including transformation, rehabilitation, and renovation.
\r\n
\r\nThe final reviews for the 2026 master's projects will take place from July 8 to 15 at the Rolex Learning Center and are open to the public.

\r\nMany powerful research tools begin as software developed within a single lab, often optimized for a specific project or computing environment. This can sometimes make these tools frustrating to install and use. Turning these tools into reliable, maintainable resources for the broader community requires testing infrastructure, clear documentation, and long-term support. The Rosetta Commons provides resources, staff, and training to help make this process straightforward and rewarding for developers and contributors, while helping reduce the frustration users often experience when installing and using new tools developed in the community.

\r\nBio:
\r\nIn this seminar, Hope Woods (Technical Product Lead) and Rachel Clune (Documentation Writer) will highlight several Rosetta Commons resources and discuss the benefits of hosting software within the Rosetta Commons infrastructure. They will also describe their work with developers of tools such as Foundry, HBDesigner, AtomWorks, and FrustraMPNN to help ensure these projects can be maintained and supported by the community over time. Finally, they will outline pathways for researchers interested in bringing their own tools into the Rosetta Commons ecosystem.

\r\nCarrying the Torch
\r\n
\r\nAbstract
\r\nFrom my perspective as a researcher and educator, the torch represents the message that I carry and will pass on to a new generation of scientists and engineers. The interaction and networking with the community is essential to our activity: indeed, we teach to and learn from each other. The circle symbolizes the flow of information among peers as well as a paradigm where crossbreeding of ideas and methods is key to scientific advances. This message will be portrayed with examples from my scientific career and a vision of the future.

\r\nAbout the speaker
\r\nGiovanni De Micheli is currently the Scientific Director of the EcoCloud center at EPFL. He was professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Stanford and EPFL for 40 years. Prof. De Micheli is a Fellow of ACM, AAAS and IEEE, elected member of 4 Academies, including the US National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He was the recipient of the 2025 IEEE Gustav Kirchhoff Award, the 2022 ESDA-IEEE Phil Kaufman Award and several other awards.
