\r\nMeasuring Nature at Work: From Soil Life to Regenerative and Resilient Agriculture

\r\nThis event will spotlight innovative startup solutions and pilot projects accelerating the transition to regenerative agriculture.
\r\nIt will also ignite discussions on the financial, regulatory, and structural shifts required to scale these innovations and align stakeholders around shared economic and environmental goals.

\r\nWhat to expect:\r\n
An annual scientific meeting organized by the Lausanne MD-PhD Commission UNIL and EPFL. Medical students interested in combining medicine and research are warmly welcome.
\r\n
\r\nThe retreat brings together MD-PhD students and candidates, alumni, thesis directors and faculty members. Medical students interested in pursuing an MD-PhD are warmly welcome to discover the programme and meet its community. Attendance is mandatory for students currently enrolled in the MD-PhD programme.
\r\n
\r\nThe programme includes research presentations and posters by doctoral students, invited talks, interactive speed coaching with UNIL/EPFL principal investigators and MD-PhD alumni, and a roundtable with senior clinical and academic leaders on clinical career pathways and support for MD-PhD graduates. Prizes will recognise the best oral presentation and the three best posters.
\r\n
\r\nCoffee and croissants will be served from 08:45, with the opening at 09:00. The roundtable is scheduled from 15:00 to 16:00, followed by an apéritif and informal discussions. The event is expected to finish by 18:00, including the apéritif. The provisional programme is available below and remains subject to change.

This paper studies optimal financial flexibility in debt issuance. A borrower raises funds for an initial investment and may need financing after observing a private liquidity shock. Under non exclusive lending, new lenders price only their claims, so additional borrowing dilutes existing debt and leads to excessive leverage. The optimal simple debt contract is an endogenous debt limit. It captures the intertemporal commitment–flexibility tradeoff: more borrowing today fi nances investment but increases dilution incentives, requiring tighter limits on future borrowing. Richer clauses, including performance-sensitive debt and contingent prepayment provisions, re store the exclusive-lending benchmark by compensating existing lenders when new financing is raised.
