But that relationship is ending: physical AI is giving our machines the intelligence to explore our world for themselves. What should they do with their newfound curiosity? This installation explores a new social contract with autonomous, intelligent systems (4.0) — one built on convincing, not controlling, machines. As you approach, the machine may choose to interact with you, or it may be too busy having fun on its own. It gets to decide. Lysosomes sit at the crossroads of cellular catabolism and quality control, where they must dismantle chemically diverse cargo while preserving their own integrity. I will discuss two discoveries that reveal how lysosomes solve these complementary challenges and how their failure creates disease vulnerabilities. First, I will describe Lysosomal Leucine Aminopeptidase (LyLAP), an enzyme specialized to processively degrade the hydrophobic α-helices of transmembrane proteins. LyLAP is highly expressed in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, where its loss causes hydrophobic peptides to accumulate, compromises lysosomal function, and ultimately leads to cancer cell death, revealing a potential vulnerability in tumors with elevated endocytic activity. I will then describe LASER, a damage-responsive protein assembly that couples lysosomal membrane injury to repair. At its core, the oligomeric protein TFG recognizes LC3/GABARAP proteins conjugated to damaged lysosomes and recruits the ESCRT machinery to restore membrane integrity. Neurodegenerative disease-associated mutations in TFG disrupt this process, linking defective lysosomal repair to human disease. Together, these findings reveal lysosomes as dynamic systems that coordinate cargo degradation with membrane surveillance and repair to maintain cellular homeostasis.

\r\nPRACTICAL INFORMATION:\r\n\r\nThey answered the call and will be exhibiting one or two works as part of the creapoly exhibition! The techniques used are almost as varied as the 30 participants themselves: acrylic, watercolor, ceramics, collage, ink, charcoal, oil, pastel, palette knife painting, drypoint, woodcarving, and even mixed media and digital techniques…

\r\nThe participants are: Thibault Aryaksama[SS1] , Behnaz Bakhtiari, Zahra Basiri, Laurence Briola, Seyedmohamadjavad Chabok, Jeanne Fernandez, Inès Gotti, Martine Harmel, Yasaman Izadmehr, Laurent Jospin, Anisia Katinskaia, Yves Leterrier, Katherine Loh, Irina Lopez, Mabel Maucci, Pierre Merret, Wricha Mishra, Gianluca Pepe, Laura Persat, Bernadette Pianka, Jean-Daniel Roulier, Mathilde Saunois, Maria Sivers, Joan Suris, Rita Székely, Barbara Tinguely, Laure Vancauwenberghe, Mioara Vasile, Christian Vonarburg and Marie-Pierre Zufferey.

\r\nA scenic design will showcase these works, thanks to the efforts of Dimitri Kasparian, who also serves as the scenic designer for Archizoom’s exhibitions.

\r\nThis project is organized as part of the 2026 Health days and Les Culturelles Festival by the VPI’s Culture Pole, in partnership with the VPH.
