\r\nEligibility: Applications may be submitted by course or conference organizers who are employed by nonprofit organizations; public and private institutions, such as colleges, universities, hospitals, laboratories and units of state and local government; and eligible agencies of the federal government. There are no citizenship requirements.
\r\n
\r\nTo be eligible for funding through the 2026 RFA for the Conferences and Courses Award, at least one instance of the course or conference must occur between September 1, 2026 and August 31, 2027.
\r\n
\r\nHow to Apply: Prospective applicants must first submit a letter of intent (LOI). LOIs must be completed electronically and submitted through Simons Award Manager (SAM) and should contain a proposal narrative (1-2 pages) and budget. Notifications for full proposal requests will be made in late June.

\r\nFunding: Salary support for the fellow + $10K for fellow’s research/travel + $50K for mentor’s research

\r\nEligibility: Fellows and mentors must hold a Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree in the natural sciences (astronomy, biology, chemistry, earth sciences, neuroscience and physics), engineering, mathematics, data science or computer science — and all subdisciplines therein — and be faculty at an academic institution or hold an equivalent position. Fellows must demonstrate that the fellowship will take place in a new discipline, distinct from their current field of study. In order to receive the fellowship, fellows must be approved by their institution for a full year of leave. Fellows must not hold any other fellowship that will provide them with salary support during the training year of the Pivot Fellowship.

\r\nHow to Apply: Applicants must apply through Simons Award Manager (SAM). Fellows and mentors will each submit a unique application in SAM independently of each other.

\r\nProf. Dirk Baier from the ZHAW School of Engineering will present empirical insights on the structural factors linked to sexual harassment in academic institutions. This will be followed by a discussion with Dr. Rachel Démolis from actionuni and Klara Sasse from VSS-UNES-USU, addressing the role of institutions, prevention, and dialogue despite power asymmetries.
