DESCRIPTION:Established in Basel in 1943\, the Novartis foundation for med
 ical-biological research was founded to foster medical-biological science 
 in Switzerland by means of financial support for research projects conduct
 ed at Swiss universities in the field of medicine and medically oriented b
 iology / biochemistry.\nIn addition\, it funds young researchers at the be
 ginning of their careers by supporting their early stages of independency 
 or by co-funding research fellowships abroad.\n\nProjects with a Novartis 
 drug as a research focus are NOT eligible.\n\nOne of the foundation’s fu
 nding instruments is the Research Project Grant.\n\nWho can apply:\n\n	Onl
 y Senior researchers can be responsible for the research project and submi
 t an application.\n	Applicants must be employed at a Swiss university or r
 esearch institution.\n	Applicants must NOT have received a grant from the 
 Foundation within the last 5 years.\n	It is possible to resubmit a signifi
 cantly adapted version of a previously rejected application.\n\n\nFunding 
 & Duration: Max. CHF 80’000 for up to 12 months.\n\nEligible costs: \n\n
 \n	Personnel (excl. the PI’s salary) for research staff (i.e. PhD studen
 ts\, postdocs or other staff)\, based on EPFL salary scale and including s
 ocial charges.\n	Instruments (if you request funding for laboratory equipm
 ent\, you must join offers from vendors).\n	Miscellaneous expenses (incl. 
 consumables\, chemicals\, reagents\, cell lines\, animals\, eggs\, publica
 tion fees).\n	Does NOT cover overheads.\n\n\nDeadlines: 1 February\, 1 May
  and 1 October (every year) at 23:59 CET\n\n\nFor further information\, pl
