DESCRIPTION:Established in Basel in 1943\, the Novartis foundation for med
 ical-biological research was founded to foster medical-biological science 
 in Switzerland by means of financial support for research projects conduct
 ed at Swiss universities in the field of medicine and medically oriented b
 iology / biochemistry.\nIn addition\, it funds young researchers at the be
 ginning of their careers by supporting their early stages of independency 
 or by co-funding research fellowships abroad.\n\nProjects with a Novartis 
 drug as a research focus are NOT eligible.\n\nOne of the foundation’s fu
 nding instruments is the Research Fellowship.\n\nWho can apply: young rese
 archers (PhD / MD) at Swiss universities or research institutions to do a 
 research stay abroad.\n\nFunding & Duration: Max. CHF 80’000 for up to 1
 2 months.\n\nThe Fellowship has a maximum duration of 12 months\, but the 
 fellow’s overall research stay abroad must be longer than 1 year and mus
 t be supported by other third party funding.\n\nEligible costs: \n\n	Cost 
 of living and housing\, among others.\n	Does NOT cover the research projec
 t\, which must be funded locally by the host institution.\n\n\nDeadlines: 
 1 February\, 1 May and 1 October (every year).\n\nPlease join to your appl
