DESCRIPTION:Aim:  Next generation sequencing (NGS) has proven to be indis
 pensable in the current SARS-CoV2 pandemic\, from pathogen discovery to va
 riant characterization to novel vaccine development in record-time. This a
 pproach to using NGS underscores the potential value of this technology an
 d its application to many other diseases from Ebola to cholera to Pathogen
  X. Through this Grand Challenge\, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation a
 nd Chan Zuckerberg Initiative will jointly offer funding for 10 scientific
  groups to explore the identification\, characterization\, and context of 
 infectious disease in LMIC settings.\n\nFunding:       max. $200\,000
 \n\nDuration:      max. 24 months\n\nEligibility: This initiative is o
 pen to both foreign and domestic organizations\, including non-profit orga
 nizations\, for-profit companies\, international organizations\, governmen
 t agencies\, and academic institutions.\n\nHow to Apply: Applicants should
  start by creating a profile on the application portal. The proposal – 2
  pages maximum – can then be uploaded. The budget table and narrative 
 – template here - can be uploaded separately. Budgets should include 15%
  indirect costs. Upon registration\, applicants must provide information a
