DESCRIPTION:Sonja Hohloch\, EPFL\nIn the first half of the talk\, we will
introduce and motivate the concept of Floer homology. Among others\, this
includes a discussion of the so-called "Arnold Conjecture" which estimates
the number of fixed points of a Hamiltonian diffeomorphism by the sum of
the Betti numbers of the underlying (closed\, symplectic) manifold.\nAltho
ugh Floer homology was thought for a long time to be a "symplectic creatur
e"\, it turned out that it can also be defined (with certain modifications
) on certain hyperkahler manifolds. There also exists an hyperkahler analo
g of the Arnold Conjecture. (This is a joint work with G. Noetzel and D. S
alamon).\nIn the second half of the talk\, we will study hyperkahler Floer
homology and "its" Arnold conjecture in more detail\, i.e. we will discus
s aspects of the proofs and arising new phenomena and problems. If time le
ft\, we will consider further geometric and dynamical aspects.
