 uished Lecture in Cancer Research\n\nProf. Dr. Mathias Heikenwälder - Gro
 up leader "chronic inflammation and cancer division" at the German Cancer 
 Research Centre in Heidelberg.\n\nProf. Heikenwälder (*1976) and his grou
 p are investigating molecular and cellular mechanisms that cause chronic i
 nflammation\, tissue damage\, cancer and metastasis. In doing so\, he trie
 s to develop new models and therapeutic approaches in close cooperation wi
 th clinics. Prof. Heikenwälder studied microbiology and molecular biology
  in Vienna. After a two-year research period at the Max Delbrück Centre f
 or Medicine in Berlin\, he graduated with highest honours in 1999. He then
  began his doctoral work at the Institute of Neuropathology in Zurich. In 
 2004\, he completed his doctorate at the Institute of Neuropathology (Univ
 ersity of Zurich) in the field of prion research. After his habilitation a
 t the Faculty of Medicine at the University Hospital Zurich\, he became Ma
 x Cloëtta Professor and group leader with the research focus "Inflammatio
 n and Cancer" in 2007. In 2010\, he became a junior research group leader 
 at the Institute of Virology at Helmholtz Zentrum München and a professor
  at Technische Universität München. Since mid-2015\, Prof. Heikenwälder
  has been the head of Division F180 "Chronic Inflammation and Cancer" at t
 he German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg.\n\n\nContact for the Zoom
