DESCRIPTION:The EPFL College of Humanities and the Laboratory for the H
istory of Science and Technology are pleased to invite you to the third s
ession of Pierre Mounier’s monthly seminar on Governing Digital Knowl
 edge Infrastructures.\n\nTue. 21st December\, 5.30pm\, Online\, registrati
on compulsory (see below)\n\nBeyond Openness: the issue of equality\, dive
rsity and inclusion in knowledge infrastructures. A dialogue with Leslie C
han.\n\nOpening the governance of open knowledge infrastructures is an iss
ue that has been addressed for some years in the academic community. But t
he question of equality\, diversity\, and inclusion (ED&I)\, that is well
known in academia when it comes to access to academic positions and resear
ch\, is rarely addressed in the larger context of knowledge production and
particularly the infrastructure that supports it. Leslie Chan\, associate
professor at the University of Toronto Scarborough and Director of the Kn
owledge Equity Lab\, is one of the few who regularly publish on this topic
 . In a recent presentation at FORCE2021 conference\, Leslie gave a thought
-provoking talk\, challenging “structural racism and systemic biases in
academic knowledge production”. For the end of the year\, the #GDKI Semi
nar will organise an online public discussion with him around his research
and the work of the Knowledge Equity Lab. The discussion will address in
particular the role of knowledge infrastructures in the inequalities and e
xclusions that hinder knowledge production globally and how working on the
ir governance can begin to change it.\n\nThe seminar will take place onlin
e Tuesday the 21st of December\, 5:30-6:30PM CET and is open to anyone upo
 n registration on this page.\n\nSuggested readings\n\nAngela Okune\, Rebec
