DESCRIPTION:Aim: The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Init
 iative (SFARI) is to improve the understanding\, diagnosis and treatment o
 f autism spectrum disorders (ASD) by funding innovative research of the hi
 ghest quality and relevance. The goal of the Pilot Award is to provide ear
 ly support for exploratory ideas\, particularly those with novel hypothese
 s. Appropriate projects for this mechanism include those considered higher
  risk but with the potential for transformative results. In particular\, S
 FARI encourages applications that propose research to link genetic or othe
 r ASD risk factors to molecular\, cellular\, circuit or behavioral mechani
 sms and set the stage for development of novel interventions.\n\nDuration:
       2 years\n\nFunding:       USD $300’000\n\nEligibility: Al
 l applicants and key collaborators must hold a PhD\, MD\, or equivalent de
 gree and have a faculty position or the equivalent.  There are no citizen
