DESCRIPTION:The purpose of the EPFL Dimitris N. Chorafas Foundation award 
 is to distinguish innovative and high level research.\n\nTwo prizes are al
 located\, each valued at USD 10\,000. Six areas are eligible\, with partic
 ular emphasis on applied research:\n1. Life Sciences & Medicine\n2. Physic
 s\n3. Chemistry (including nanotechnology)\n4. Mathematics\n5. Informatics
 /Computer Science\n6. Engineering of Finance & Risk Management\n\nThe priz
 es are meant to reward pre-graduate scientific contributions made independ
 ently by junior scientists (in their last year of PhD thesis preparation) 
 at the EPFL.\n\nEligibility Criteria\n\nFor PhD theses defended or to be d
 efended between 01.06.2023 and 31.12.2024\n\nAge limit: 32 years (born aft
 er 31 May 1992).\n\nCandidates who are full-time employees in the industry
 \, in higher education or elsewhere\, may not be nominated to the prize. E
 xceptions to this rule: Candidates who are employed as teaching assistants
 \, research assistants\, research associates and postdoctoral fellows.\n\n
 No resubmission.\n\nSubmission deadline: 18 March 2024 (16:00 CEST)\n\nApp
 lications must be submitted via the online application platform.
