DESCRIPTION:The Foundation Charles Defforey-Institut de France will grant 
 a prize entitled « Fondation Charles Defforey-Institut de France 2022 Sci
 entific Grand Prize »\, which will be awarded to a research project focus
 ed on the following theme :\n\nDevelopments in the quantum world\n\nRecent
  years have seen major developments in physics\, information and quantum t
 echnologies. We are witnessing the emergence of new materials with correla
 tions leading to remarkable collective properties\, of lattices of coupled
  superconducting junctions for quantum computing\, the rapid development o
 f light control at the single photon level and entanglement between photon
 s. Assemblies of cold atoms or ions are also promising quantum simulators.
  Important theoretical advances are taking place\, both conceptually and i
 n the development of methods for simulating interacting systems. Quantum s
 cience opens up fascinating perspectives in a diversity of fields such as 
 computation\, digital or analog simulation\, algorithms\, communications\,
  metrology or sensor development. It is the theme of the Charles Defforey-
 Institut de France 2022 scientific grand prize.\n\nThe Fondation Charles D
 efforey-Institut de France Scientific Grand Prize is an international awar
 d. It will provide a financial aid to a high-level research project conduc
 ted in a French or foreign laboratory placed under the authority of a Fren
 ch or foreign scientist.\n\nThe amount of the Prize is 400 000 euros\, 90%
  of which will contribute to research and 10% will be granted to the scien
 tific supervisor of the team or to the laboratory in recognition of their 
 contribution to the award-winning research. However\, it will not be the c
 ase if it is an institution\n\nThe applications must include:\n• The pro
 posal form (downloadable on the Institut de France website www.institut-de
 -france.fr)\n• A 1 to 2 pages summary of the project (containing the tit
 le of the research project\, some parts of the team leader’s résumé\, 
 a summary of the work accomplished and the research project itself\, and a
  list of the team’s 10 most significant publications)\n• The team lead
 er curriculum vitae\n• The names and titles of the team members\,\n• A
  3 to 4 pages description of the work already done by the candidate and hi
 s team\n• A short description (3 pages max.) of the work in progress\n\n
 The application must be written in French or in English\, in order for the
  jury to be able to call on foreign experts if needed.\n\nApplications sho
