 ommercial Li-ion chemistry are required to fuel the electric revolution. M
 etallic lithium is the ultimate high-energy anode but its successful imple
 mentation is dependent on increasing plating and stripping efficiency and 
 preventing dendrite formation. In my talk\, I will discuss how the interpl
 ay between the unique mechanical properties of lithium\, the transport and
  thermodynamic properties of the electrolyte and the physicochemical prope
 rties of the solid electrolyte interphase affects lithium’s cycling beha
 viour.
