DESCRIPTION:SWEET (SWiss Energy research for the Energy Transition) is a f
 unding programme of the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE). The purpose
  is to fund transdisciplinary research and innovation activities with a fo
 cus on Switzerland’s energy strategy 2050 and the country’s climate po
 licy goals. The programme targets research and innovation in the domains o
 f energy efficiency\, renewable energy\, storage\, networks\, and security
  and safety of critical energy infrastructures. SWEET spans the innovation
  cycle from application-oriented basic research to preparations for deploy
 ment.\n\nThe guiding theme for the 1st call 2022 is “Co-Evolution of the
  Swiss Energy System and Swiss Society and Its Representation in Coordinat
 ed Simulations”. The objectives of this call are to investigate the inte
 raction between the energy system and society and to apply the findings (e
 .g. in simulations) and to coordinate the simulations of the energy system
  that are being carried out by a various groups so that the simulations ca
 n be compared in a meaningful manner.\n\nThe consortium’s work is expect
 ed to lead to the following outcomes:\n\n	Foundation for a long-term trans
 disciplinary collaboration between the social sciences & humanities (SSH)\
 , the natural sciences and engineering\, and the economic sciences on ener
 gy- and climate-related questions.\n	Documentation of all models\, assumpt
 ions\, scenarios\, narratives/story-lines\, and results that were contribu
 ted or generated by consortium members.\n\n\nSWEET targets the formation o
 f a transdisciplinary consortium of institutions working together over 10 
 years. Such a consortium should comprise at least 5 applicants from differ
 ent legal entities and be led by a host institution that is a Swiss instit
 ution of higher education and the legal entity applying on behalf of the c
 onsortium.\n\n\nWho can apply\nResearch institutes\, tertiary education se
 ctor\, private sector\, as well as public sector such as cantons and commu
 nes. Foreign institutions may participate and receive funding\, provided t
 heir skills and competencies are essential and cannot be fulfilled by Swis
 s applicants.\n\nApplicants from the natural sciences and engineering\, th
 e economic sciences\, and the SSH must be equitably represented in the con
 sortium and its management.\n\nConsortia are composed of Applicants (recei
 ving SWEET funds) and Cooperation partners (not receiving SWEET funds). Bo
 th may participate in more than one consortium. However\, the same kind of
  contribution may not be offered to more than one consortium.\n\nThe host 
 institution is a Swiss institution of higher education and represents the 
 consortium to the SFOE.\n\n\nFunding\nThe overall budget for this call is 
 10 MCHF for one consortium over a period of 10 years.\nApplicants in a con
 sortium are expected to contribute financially and/or in-kind according to
  their abilities.\n\n\nEligible costs\nInternal costs for staff. Costs for
  equipment\, services\, expenses and others. Costs in connection with coor
 dination\, management and monitoring of the consortium\, as well as for co
 mmunication\, dissemination and exploitation of results (knowledge and tec
 hnology transfer).\n\n\nSubmission and deadline\nSWEET Call 1-2022 is bein
 g organized as a two-step process:\n \n\n	All interested consortia should
  submit a pre-proposal no later than 16 June 2022 (12 noon CEST).\n	A shor
 t-list of the highest-ranking consortia will be invited to submit full pro
 posals. The deadline for submission of full proposals will be in November 
 2022.\n\n\n\nImportant: Consortia that intend to submit a pre-proposal mus
 t inform the SFOE by sending a notification of intent to submit to sweet@b
 fe.admin.ch no later than 28 April 2022. The notification is mandatory. Pl
 ease inform the Research Office in parallel.\n\nUse the official notificat
