CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: Through the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Pro
gram (CDMRP)\, the Department of Defense is announcing the Lung Cancer Res
earch Program (LCRP) Awards. Three award programs are available:\n \n\n	T
he FY22 LCRP Concept Award supports the exploration of a highly innovative
new concept or untested theory that addresses an important problem releva
nt to lung cancer.  The Concept Award is not intended to support an incre
mental progression of an already established research project\; instead\,
this award mechanism allows Principal Investigators (PIs) the opportunity
to pursue serendipitous observations by supporting high-risk studies that
have the potential to reveal entirely new avenues for investigation. \n
\n	The FY22 LCRP Idea Development Award mechanism promotes new ideas tha
t are still in the early stages of development and have the potential to y
ield impactful data and new avenues of investigation. This award supports
conceptually innovative\, high-risk/high-reward research that could lead t
o critical discoveries or major advancements that will accelerate progress
toward eradicating deaths and suffering from lung cancer. Research applic
ations only in the area of mesothelioma will not be accepted. Applications
should include a well-formulated\, testable hypothesis based on strong sc
ientific rationale.\n	 \n	The FY22 LCRP Career Development Award supports
early-career\, independent investigators to conduct impactful research un
der the mentorship of an experienced lung cancer researcher as an opportun
ity to obtain the funding\, mentoring\, and experience necessary for produ
ctive\, independent careers at the forefront of lung cancer research.  Th
is award is intended to support impactful research projects with an emphas
is on discovery. Preliminary data are not required. \n\n\nAll application
s for LCRP funding must specifically address at least one of the Areas of
Emphasis as directed by Congress and have direct relevance to military hea
lth. The FY22 LCRP Topic Areas are listed at the end of this announcement.
 \n\nFunding:       Concept Award - max. $100’000\n
Idea Development Award – max. $350’000\
 n                        Career Development Award
 – max. $250’000\n\nDuration:      Concept Award – 1 year\n
Idea Development Award – 2 year
 s\n                        Career Development Award
  – 2 years\n\nEligibility: Applicants from international organizations o
r institutions are eligible to apply\, and there are no citizenship restri
ctions. All investigators at or above the level of postdoctoral fellow (or
equivalent) are eligible for the Concept Award. All investigators at or a
bove the level of assistant professor (or equivalent) are eligible for the
Idea Development and Career Development Awards.\n\nHow to Apply: Pre-appl
ications are submitted through the eBRAP platform. They should contain con
tact information\, a letter of intent\, and a list of collaborators and ke
y personnel as suggested on the platform. Full applications will be made v
ia a Grants.gov workspace. Full application packages can be downloaded fro
 m Grants.gov at any time.\n\nPre-Application Deadline: 5:00 p.m. Eastern t
 ime (ET)\, May 03\, 2022\nFull Application Deadline: program-dependent\n\n
