CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim:  There are currently no FDA approved disease-modifying t
reatments available for frontotemporal dementia (FTD)\, and symptomatic tr
eatments only provide limited benefit for patients. Recent scientific adva
nces have provided an increased understanding of pathogenic mechanisms und
erlying FTD and are driving the development of potential disease-modifying
therapies. The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and The Ass
ociation for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) seek to accelerate this pr
ogress by supporting innovative small molecule and biologic (antibodies\,
oligonucleotides\, peptides\, gene therapy etc.) drug development programs
for FTD through this request for proposals (RFP).\n\nThe funding prioriti
es for this RFP are:\n\n	Lead optimization of novel disease-modifying comp
ounds\, including medicinal chemistry refinement and in vitro ADME.\n	In v
ivo testing of novel lead compounds\, biologics\, vaccines\, or repurposed
drug candidates in relevant animal models for pharmacokinetics\, dose-ran
ge finding\, target engagement\, in vivo efficacy\, and/or preliminary rod
 ent tolerability studies.\n\n\nFunding:       max. $150\,000\n\nDurat
 ion:      1 year\, with potential for follow-up funding\n\nEligibility
: Funding is open to researchers and clinicians worldwide at academic medi
cal centers and universities or nonprofits. Industry partnerships are enco
uraged.\n\nHow to Apply: Applications are reviewed in a two-step process:
Letters of Intent (LOI) are the first step\, and are submitted through the
ADFF Funding Portal. ADDF’s science team will evaluate LOIs to determin
e whether the proposed project is consistent with the ADDF's mission and f
unding priorities. LOI decisions will be sent within three weeks of submis
sion. Step 2 is an invited full proposal\, which should include a detailed
project narrative\, budget and justification\, and biographical informati
on.  When formulating the budget\, note that the following costs are not
covered: Indirect costs/Overhead\, Publication costs\, Equipment\, and Tra
 vel.\n\nDeadlines:    20-May-2022 (letter of intent)\n
                 30-July-2022 (full proposal\, by invitation
)\n\nFurther information\n\n\n	More information about the program is avail
able here\n	Detailed application instructions are here\n	The application p
ortal can be found here\n	For any other questions\, please contact the Res
 earch Office\n
