UID:750a45c44bf4ea685f9205ea9d1f76247abcb65f7ddf377e28ddd8e9
CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim:  The Drug Development RFP seeks to support in vivo precl
inical studies that advance lead molecules developed for Alzheimer’s dis
ease and related dementias to IND-enabling studies. The proposed studies s
hould be structured to deliver a compound with strong potential for clinic
al and commercial application.\n\nSpecifically\, the Drug Development RFP
supports the following stages of discovery:\n\n	Preclinical pharmacokineti
cs (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) (primarily in wild-type animals to infor
m dose selection for in vivo efficacy studies)\, as well as preliminary ro
dent tolerability studies\n	In vivo efficacy or proof-of-concept studies i
n animal models of disease or aging\, with a focus on measures of direct a
nd indirect markers of target engagement and downstream pharmacologic effe
cts\n\n\nCurrent target areas of interest include:\n\n	Epigenetics\n	Infla
 mmation\n	Mitochondria & metabolic function\n	Neuroprotection\n	Proteostas
 is\n	Synaptic activity and neurotransmitters\n	Vascular function\n	Other m
echanisms and modes of action related to the biology of aging (e.g. senesc
ent cells)\n	Other novel targets or pathways that are supported by compell
ing evidence demonstrating a rational biological connection to the disease
  process\n\n\nFunding:       max. $600\,000\n\nDuration:      1 y
ear\n\nEligibility: Funding is open to researchers and clinicians worldwid
e at academic medical centers and universities or nonprofits. Industry par
tnerships are encouraged.\n\nHow to Apply: Deadlines for proposal submissi
ons occur three times per year. Applications are reviewed in a two-step pr
ocess: Letters of Intent (LOIs) are the first step\, and should be submitt
ed on the ADDF Funding Portal. ADDF’s science team will evaluate LOIs to
determine whether the proposed project is consistent with the ADDF's miss
ion and funding priorities. LOI decisions will be sent within three weeks
of submission. Step 2 is an invited full proposal\, which should include a
detailed project narrative\, budget and justification\, and biographical
information.  When formulating the budget\, note that the following costs
are not covered: Indirect costs/Overhead\, Publication costs\, Equipment\
 , and Travel.\n\nWinter Deadlines:              04-February-2
 022 (LOI)\n
                   08-April-2022\n
                                      (
 full proposal\, by invitation)\n\nSummer Deadlines:           20
 -May-2022 (LOI)\n
                       22-July-2022\n
