DESCRIPTION:Artiste: Caroline Corbasson\nFrom May 6 to 29\, the artist Car
oline Corbasson unveils PHYSICS\, a short film shot between EPFL and UNIL
that features students torn between the objectivity of the sciences they s
tudy and the power of the emotions that young people in particular experie
nce.\n\nAt the invitation of the EPFL CDH Artist-in-Residence Program 2021
with the Laboratory for the History of Science and Technology (LHST)\, d
irected by Jérôme Baudry\, French artist Caroline Corbasson explores s
cience and students’ life on campus in a short film focusing on human re
 lationships.\n \n\n	PHYSICS – by Caroline Corbasson\n	To be seen from 6
  to 29 May\, 2022\n	EPFL Pavilions\, Pavilion A\n	 \n\n\n\nPHYSICS is a v
isual tale in five tableaux\, which present a palette of human relationshi
ps. Shot at EPFL and at the University of Lausanne\, PHYSICS features stud
ents torn between the objectivity of the sciences they are studying\, and
the power of the emotions that youth in particular experience.\nPHYSICS is
a fascinating and evocative exploration\, in which Corbasson offers her s
ophisticated perspective on the atmosphere of the EPFL campus. She reveals
the mysterious and intimate aspects of the relationships that inhabit and
characterize it\, while making visible the power and presence of its natu
ral surroundings. It is a story that narrates\, beyond human relations\, t
he complex perception that individuals have of their own environment – b
 etween rationality and fascination.\n\nCaroline Corbasson:\nCorbasson’s
work explores how the observation of space and the development of astronom
ical tools have led to a rupture between immediate perception – that of
the average individual – and that of scientists\, of our place in the un
iverse. Her drawings\, sculptures\, and videos meticulously scrutinize thi
s expanse. Connecting the infinitely large – the evolution of which goes
back to an ante-cultural period – with the depth of the infinitely smal
l\, made perceptible through the tools of science\, her drawings\, sculptu
res and videos meticulously scrutinize the domain of the visible.\n\nFollo
wing a Bachelor of Fine Arts at St Martins School\, London\, Corbasson gra
duated from l’ENSBA Paris with Honors in 2013. Her work has been present
ed in France and internationally in many institutions such as Cité Intern
ationale des Arts\, Paris (FR)\, Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art\, Newc
astle (UK)\, Songwon Art Center\, Seoul (KR)\, Musée Des Arts et Métiers
 \, Paris (FR)\, CRAC\, Sète (FR)\, La Panacée MOCO\, Montpellier (FR)\,
FRAC Provence-Alpes-Côte D’azur\, Marseille (FR). In 2017\, she directe
d her first short film\, set at Paranal Observatory in the Atacama Desert\
, Chile\, with the support of the CNRS and the Laboratoire d’Astrophysiq
ue de Marseille. In 2018 she was selected for an artist residency at the L
aboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille. Her first monographic book\, Si
dereal\, was published by Monteverita Publishing in 2017\, and her second\
, Looking for you\, by Visions Particulières Press in 2019.\n> Caroline C
