DESCRIPTION:The State Secretariat for Education\, Research and Innovation 
 (SERI) mandated the ETH Zurich as Leading House for bilateral collaboratio
 n with partner institutions in East and Southeast Asia.  In 2022\, the Le
 ading House Asia ETH Zurich opened a call for proposals for opportunity gr
 ants with China\, Japan\, South Korea and the ASEAN member states\, incl. 
 Hong Kong\, Macao and Taiwan.\n\nWho can apply: \n\n	Postdoctoral scientis
 ts\, senior scientists and professors (single or in a consortium) of Swiss
  federal and cantonal universities\, universities of applied sciences\, un
 iversities of teacher education\, as well as public research institutions.
 \n	The main applicant must be employed at one of the aforementioned Swiss 
 institutions.\n	The proposal has to include at least one co-applicant from
  one of the partner countries. Co-applicant(s) will have to provide their 
 own funds (cash and in-kind).\n\n\nFunding: up to CHF 50’000\n\nDuration
 : up to 12 months\n\nFor what:\n\n\n	Support to bottom-​up initiatives o
 f Swiss researchers linked to specific events or incidents in the partner 
 countries (China\, Japan\, South Korea\, ASEAN\, incl. Hong Kong\, Macao a
 nd Taiwan).\n	Examples of events: large public happenings (such as the Oly
 mpic Games\, international or national expositions/biennales)\, major envi
 ronmental events (such as the implications of a typhoon\, earthquake or ts
 unami)\, major economic and political developments (such as the geopolitic
 al implications of a presidential visit or a shift of power in a governmen
 t)\, launch of a new public policy (such as new impactful agriculture or m
 igration policies).\n	Examples of activities: organisation of thematic eve
 nts for a broader audience or application of a Swiss technology or researc
 h results \n	Objective: increase the visibility of Swiss science and techn
 ology abroad or apply its results to a concrete development or challenge.\
 n	The call is open to all disciplines.\n\n\nEligible costs: travel\, accom
 modation costs\, project consumables and equipment\, logistics. Does NOT c
 over research projects\, salaries or scientific exchanges.\n\nCall timelin
 e:\n\n\n	Application deadline: 31 July 2022\n	Decision: mid-September 2022
