DESCRIPTION:Velux Stiftung was founded in 1980 by Villum Kann Rasmussen\, 
 a Danish engineer. He developed a novel window construction that could be 
 installed in sloping roofs\, which he named “VELUX” (“Ve” for vent
 ilation\, and “Lux” for light).\n\nIn 2022\, the Velux Stiftung launch
 es its new Forestry program on climate change\, biodiversity and forest pr
 oducts. A yearly budget of CHF 2 million will be dedicated to the program.
  One call for proposals will be published every year from 2022 to 2026.\n\
 nThematic focus:\n\n	Trade-offs and synergies of sustainable forest manage
 ment to develop and provide solutions for mitigating climate change\, prom
 oting biodiversity\, providing resilient ecosystems services while supplyi
 ng sustainable timber.\n	Transformation of theoretical and abstract values
  of forest products and services into incentives for action and behavioura
 l change.\n	Projects dealing with all types of forests: boreal\, temperate
 \, tropical and subtropical forests.\n	Proposals with the main focus on im
 plementation or community development are excluded from the call and will 
 not be considered.\n\n\nTypes of applications:\n\n\n	Research projects: In
 novative\, interdisciplinary\, implementation or transfer-oriented researc
 h projects with a high potential to foster change in practice.\n	Science-p
 ractice networks: Existing or novel interdisciplinary science-practice net
 works to develop or implement the mentioned thematic focus.\n\n\nProjects 
 should include some approaches aiming for sustainable change\, such as:\n\
 n\n	Knowledge transfer\n	Stakeholder involvement\n	Interdisciplinarity\n	L
 ocal context\n\n\nWho can apply\n\n\n	Both individual researchers and rese
 arch groups can apply.\n	At least one applicant (e.g. professor\, group le
 ader) must be a permanent employee of a university or other permanent rese
 arch entity anywhere in the world.\n	Other partners can be forest owners\,
  practitioners\, consulting or governmental agencies\, etc.\n\n\nDuration:
  1-4 years\n\nFunding: approx. CHF 50-100’000 per year covering\n\n\n	Re
 search staff costs (personnel costs\, doctoral students\, teaching replace
 ment).\n	Associated research costs (e.g. consumables\, conference\, travel
 \, publication).\n	Equipment costs may be included if duly justified.\n	Kn
 owledge transfer (at least 10% of the funding)\n	Does NOT cover overheads 
 nor social insurances.\n\n\nDeadlines: \n\n\n	Submission: 19 September 202
