DESCRIPTION:The Federal Council mandated the SNSF to launch a 2nd call for
  the National Research Programme "Advancing 3R – Animals\, Research and 
 Society" (NRP 79). An amount of CHF 2M is available for this 2nd call. Thi
 s will be used to fund about 8 further projects.\n\nThis 2nd call will spe
 cifically focus on the humanities and social sciences and will target the 
 following focus area: \n\n	Ethics and society: research into ethical\, con
 ceptual and societal issues connected with the 3Rs and the use of animals 
 for scientific purposes.\n\nResearch outputs sought are not only tradition
 al outcomes\, but also non-traditional outputs such as building and promot
 ing dialogue with the public and public outreach.\n\n2 Types of funding:\n
 \n\n	Postdoctoral fellowships: for postdocs with initial experience in pro
 ject management\, Swiss nationality or Swiss degree\, employed by a Swiss 
 institution for the entire duration of the fellowship. The fellowships mus
 t start max. 5 years after the PhD defense date. Please contact research@e
 pfl.ch at least 2 weeks prior to the deadline for the institutional suppor
 t letter.\n	Project funding: for individual applicants or team of applican
 ts who are independent. Possibility to involve research groups abroad. Alt
 hough interdisciplinary projects are most welcome\, projects in a single d
 iscipline are equally eligible.\n\nFunding: CHF 300K – 500K but budgets 
 below or above this range are possible if sufficiently justified.\n\nDurat
