CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:The Swiss Personalized Health Network (SPHN) is launching his
new call for proposals on “Demonstrator projects” aiming at using the
SPHN infrastructures\, processes\, and frameworks\, to demonstrate the uti
lity and fit-for-purpose of those SPHN ecosystem elements and to identify
gaps.\n\nDemonstrator projects in the following two areas are eligible for
funding:\n \n\n	Infrastructure components: Operational application (in d
aily practice) or transferability (to another setting) of infrastructure c
omponents\, systems or tools developed locally along the goals of SPHN or
as part of SPHN-funded projects\n\n \n\n\n	Routine healthcare data: Lever
aging the potential and validating the use of routine healthcare data from
the UH Clinical Data Warehouses (CDW) for translational and clinical rese
arch projects\, clinical trials (proof-of-principle studies)\, or other re
al-world use cases\n\n\nDemonstrator projects could synergize with ongoing
SPHN projects\, projects funded by the ETH Domain «Strategic Focus Area
in Personalized Health and Related Technologies» (PHRT)\, or research pro
jects funded through other instruments and organizations.\n\nDemonstrator
projects shall not build new infrastructure from scratch\, but consolidate
what has been started\, complement missing links\, and assess applicabili
ty and impact on clinical decision making and personalized health research
.\n\nWho can apply:\n\n\n	Each proposal submission requires the designatio
n of a main responsible for corresponding with SPHN and for setting up and
managing the consortium.\n	Main applicant and co-applicants need to be em
ployed as PI / group leader (or similar) for the entire duration of the pr
oject at a higher education institution (ETH/EPF\, universities\, universi
ties of applied sciences)\, or university hospital in Switzerland\n	Co-app
licants are fully eligible to receive SPHN funding\n	Associated applicants
are employed at other research institutions or hospitals. As a general ru
le\, costs for all associated applicants combined should not exceed 20% of
the total grant from SPHN.\n	For-profit organizations can collaborate wit
h a consortium led by a SPHN partner institution and may participate as co
 - or associated applicants on a project basis\; however\, they must cover
their efforts with their own resources.\n\n\nFunding and duration: Max. CH
 F 500’000.- for 18 months\n\nEligible costs:\n\n\n	Personnel costs\, inc
luding costs of project management.\n	Cost for services from data provider
s (e.g.\, Clinical Data Warehouses\, multi-omics and other analysis platfo
rms)\n	 Equipment costs linked to the development and implementation of t
he research data management systems (IT hardware\, software and licenses).
\n	Usage fees linked to the usage of IT resources.\n	Costs related to info
rmation management and data analysis.\n	Costs for disseminating results an
d implementing feedback loops to clinicians and other health decision make
rs\n	No overheads shall be paid for SPHN-funded projects.\n\n\nOther requi
rements:\n\n\n	Applications must align with the overall goals of SPHN and
describe how the project will test\, validate\, consolidate or extend avai
lable SPHN infrastructure.\n	Applications must be tightly coordinated with
the respective infrastructure platforms and all data providers and data p
rocessors (e.g.\, BioMedIT).\n	Adherence to the current valid version of t
he SPHN Ethical Framework for Responsible Data Processing and the SPHN Inf
ormation Security Policy is a condition for receiving SPHN funding. The SP
HN recommendations for Reporting Actionable Genetic Findings to Research P
articipants should be followed.\n\n\nTimeline of the call:\n\n\n	Submissio
 n deadline: 31 August 2022 (23:59 CET)\n	Final selection: End of November
2022\n\n\nImportant: Applicants requesting funding from SPHN must provide
a Commitment letter signed by the legal representative of the institution.
