DESCRIPTION:Dr Iannis Aifantis\, Hermann M. Biggs Professor & Chair\n\nA L
ola and John Grace Distinguished Lecture in Cancer Research\n\nDr Iannis A
 ifantis\, Hermann M. Biggs Professor and Chair\nDepartment of Pathology\,
NYU School of Medicine\, USA\nDr Aifantis's lab studies the molecular mech
anisms driving normal stem cell differentiation and malignant transformati
on. More specifically\, they are using the hematopoietic system as their m
odel of study and focus on the genomic\, epigenetic and proteomic regulati
on of hematopoietic stem cell differentiation and induction of leukemia an
d lymphoma. Their latest obsessions are diverse regulatory mechanisms incl
uding ubiquitin-regulated protein abundance\, DNA and Histone methylation
and the role of long non-coding RNAs in leukemia induction\, progression a
nd relapse after treatment. Finally\, they are interested to visualize and
measure the impact of tumor micro-environment on these regulatory mechani
sms and test drugs that will target either the tumor or the tumor niche us
ing both animal and human xenograft disease models.\n\n
