CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim: The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Init
iative (SFARI) is to improve the understanding\, diagnosis and treatment o
f autism spectrum disorders (ASD) by funding innovative research of the hi
ghest quality and relevance.\n\nGrants awarded through this request for ap
plications (RFA) are intended to advance our understanding of the genetic
basis of ASD and the molecular and cellular consequences of genetic risk\,
and to provide a foundation for the development of treatments for select
genetically defined forms of the condition. SFARI seeks proposals in three
different areas\, with the common goal of identifying new possibilities f
or intervention:\n\n	Integrative Analyses of Multi-omic ASD Data\n	Functio
nal Analysis of Associated Variants\n	Genetic Therapies\n\n\nTo enhance su
pport of projects all along the continuum of translation\, SFARI now offer
s three tracks within this RFA solicitation:\n\n	The Explorer track is app
ropriate for early-stage projects where establishing feasibility and proof
-of-concept are the most relevant outcomes of the grant period.\n	The Expa
nsion track is appropriate for more mature projects with evidence of feasi
bility and preliminary validity.\n	The Collaboration track is appropriate
for multi-lab collaborative projects.\n\n\nDuration:      Explorer tra
 ck – 24 months\nExpansion track – 36 months\nCollaboration track – 3
 6 months\n\nFunding:       Explorer track – $400\,000\nExpansion t
 rack – $1\,500\,000\nCollaboration track - $750\,000\n\nEligibility: All
applicants and key collaborators must hold a Ph.D.\, M.D. or equivalent d
egree and have a faculty position or the equivalent at a college\, univers
ity\, medical school or other research facility. Applications may be submi
tted by domestic and foreign nonprofit organizations\; public and private
 institutions\, such as colleges\, universities\, hospitals\, laboratories\
, and units of state and local government\; and eligible agencies of the f
ederal government. There are no citizenship or country requirements.\n\nHo

Filter by Grant Maker’ drop-down list. You will then see the list of cur
rent Simons Foundation grant opportunities and will be able to select ‘G
enomics: Pathways to Biological Convergence and Genetic Therapies’.\n\nI
