DESCRIPTION:The Branco Weiss Fellowship (Society in Science) is a postdoct
 oral program for exceptionally qualified young researchers. It consists of
  a personal research grant that enables the fellows to work on their proje
 cts in all disciplines\, at an academic institution of their choice anywhe
 re in the world\, for up to 5 years.\n\nThe fellowship is international an
 d transdisciplinary in nature. Up to 10 fellowships are awarded each year.
 \n\nMainstream research projects that could also be funded by other scient
 ific organizations are NOT supported.\n\nCandidates must have a record of 
 outstanding scientific achievement.\n\nThe proposal must show a willingnes
 s to engage in a dialogue on relevant social\, cultural\, political or eco
 nomic issues across the frontiers of the candidate’s particular discipli
 ne.\n\nWho can apply:\n\n	You officially hold a PhD on January 15\, 2025.\
 n	Your PhD was awarded after January 15\, 2020 (exceptions: parental leave
  or inability to work due to illness or accident).\n	Assistant professors\
 , lecturers and other faculty are NOT eligible.  \n\n\nFunding & Duration
 : up to CHF 600K for 5 years (Pioneer phase: the first 2.5 years of resear
 ch\; Exploitation phase: the remaining 2.5 years).\n\nFor what: all resear
 ch-related costs (i.e. salary and/or equipment\, travel expenses\, consuma
 bles\, personnel\, etc.) and 10% overheads.\n\nNote: Branco Weiss Fellows 
 are encouraged to seek faculty positions during their exploitation phase. 
 Assuming an academic position will not result in termination of the fell
 owship.\n\nTimeline: \n\n\n	January 15\, 2025\, 5 p.m. CET: final deadline
  for applications via the online form\n	May 2025: notification and invitat
 ion for a personal interview sent to final selection of candidates\; notif
 ication sent to candidates whose application has been rejected\n	June 2025
 : candidates interviewed by a panel in Zurich\, Switzerland\; final select
 ion of fellows\n	October 1 to December 31\, 2025: fellows commence researc
