DESCRIPTION:Prof Dora Hermes Miller\nAbstract\nThe development of circuit-
 based therapeutics to treat neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases req
 uire detailed localization and understanding of electrophysiological signa
 ls in the human brain. Electrodes can record and stimulate circuits in man
 y ways\, and we often rely on non-invasive imaging methods to predict the 
 location to implant electrodes. However\, electrophysiological and imaging
  signals measure the underlying tissue in a fundamentally different manner
 . To integrate multimodal data and benefit from these complementary measur
 ements\, I will describe an approach that considers how different measurem
 ents integrate signals across the underlying tissue. I will show how this 
 approach helps relate fMRI and intracranial EEG measurements and provides 
 new insights into how electrical stimulation influences human brain networ
 ks.\n\nBrief Bio\nDora Hermes\, Ph.D.\, studies the signals measured in t
 he living human brain in order to identify biomarkers of neurological and 
 neuropsychiatric diseases and develop neuroprosthetics to interface with t
 he brain. She did her PhD working with Nick Ramsey at the UMC Utrecht in t
 he Netherlands\, where her work on integrating functional MRI with intracr
 anial EEG measurements received the Editor’s Choice Award from the Organ
 ization for Human Brain Mapping. During her postdoc\, she worked with Jona
 than Winawer and Brian Wandell at New York University and Stanford Univers
 ity\, and received a prestigious Veni-fellowship in The Netherlands to stu
 dy the relation between visual input and neural oscillations in health and
  disease. She is now an assistant professor at the Department of Physiolog
 y and Biomedical Engineering at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota.\nL
