DESCRIPTION:Speakers' list\nMore than a century since pathological protein
aggregates were first identified in the brain of patients with neurodegen
erative diseases (NDDs) and we still do not have effective therapies to tr
eat or slow the progression of NDDs or diagnostics for early detection and
monitoring disease progression.\n\nRecent findings are challenging tradit
ional views about the composition\, ultrastructural properties\, and heter
ogeneity of protein pathologies in the brain\, their mechanisms of formati
on and their and how we investigate and model pathological aggregation pro
cesses associated with NDs in the laboratory today.\n\nFirst day of the sy
mposium focuses on the faces of the neurodegenerative diseases - the patie
nts and their families\, and is free for public to attend.\n\nSessions inc
lude:\n\n	Opening remarks\n	Meet the faces of neurodegenerative diseases.
Three short documentaries\n\nDancing at the Vatican: The story of an extra
ordinarily brave families bound by the same devastating disease (Huntingto
n’s disease) on a life-changing mission to bring their illness out of th
 e shadows. https://www.dancingatthevatican.com\nChallenging Parkinson’s
disease: The incredible and inspirational story of Yves Auberson and his j
ourney to embrace and challenge Parkinson’s disease. https://defi-parkin
 son.ch\nGina in Motion: A story about Gina\, a spirited 43-year-old woman
with early-onset Parkinson’s disease\, and her journey to pursue informa
tion\, direction and wisdom on how to deal with her conditions.\n\n\n	Insi
ghts from Patients\, Families and Patient Advocates\n	Treating Neurodegene
rative diseases : How far we have come and how far we still have to go.\n\
 nHuntington’s disease\nParkinson’s disease\nAlzheimer’s disease\n\n\
n	Open discussion\n\nStudents of biotechnological fields are strongly enco
uraged to attend to gain the valuable insights into the human side of the
neurodegenerative diseases\, and interact with patients and their families
