 nAbstract:\nDisney Research Zurich started in 2008. By now  45 researchers
  conduct over 70 distinct research projects in the fields of graphics  com
 puter animation  facial modeling  video processing  stereo 3D  computation
 al materials  and wireless communication. In this talk I will give a few e
 xamples of such research  highlight the scientific challenges and explain 
 the potential of the results for the various Disney business units.\nExamp
 les include facial modeling  2D and 3D animation  video retargeting  stere
 o 3D  processing  and 3D reproduction of materials.\n\nBiography:\nProf. G
 ross is a professor of Computer Science at ETH Zurich  head of the Compute
 r Graphics Laboratory and the director of Disney Research Zurich.\nHis res
 earch interests include computer graphics  image generation and display  g
 eometric modeling  computer animation  and video processing. He has publis
 hed more than 300 scientific papers and he holds many patents on core grap
 hics and visualization technologies. Prof. Gross was chair of the papers c
 ommittee of ACM SIGGRAPH 2005 and he serves on the scientific advisory boa
 rds of various research organizations. Prof. Gross is a fellow of the EURO
 GRAPHICS Association and a member of the German Academy of Science Leopold
 ina. He received the SWISS ICT Champions Award in the category People in 2
 011.
