DESCRIPTION:The joint transnational call has been launched in the framewor
k of the European partnership Water4All and will support research and inno
vation projects aimed at delivering knowledge\, models\, approaches\, tool
s and methodologies to better understand hydrological processes at differe
nt scale\, in order to respond more efficiently to emerging water issues r
elated to extreme events.\nIn line with the strategic objectives of Water4
All\, the results of the projects will contribute to the implementation of
evidence-based\, global\, EU and national water management policies and s
trategies\, within the frameworks of the Green Deal\, the Water Framework
Directive\, Just Transition and the United Nations Sustainable Development
Goals. Furthermore\, governance playing a key role in water challenges\,
the 2022 Joint Transnational Call will seek for innovative governance mode
ls\, and enhanced participation of stakeholders in water management issues
related to extreme events.\n\nResearch & innovation proposals submitted u
nder the Water4All 2022 Joint Transnational Call are required to address a
t least one of the following topics:\n\n	Resilience\, adaptation and mitig
ation to hydroclimatic extreme events\n	Tools for water management - in th
e context of hydroclimatic extreme events\n	Improved water governance in t
he context hydroclimatic extreme events and international contexts\n\nThe
international RD&I projects duration should be 36 months. Funded consortia
will be asked to agree on a common starting date\, to be set in the last
quarter of 2023/first quarter of 2024.\nOver 30 M€ have been provisional
ly allocated for this Joint Transnational Call by the participating Fundin
g Partner Organisations (FPOs)\, including support from the European Union
. The Swiss participating FPO is the Swiss National Science Foundation (SN
SF)\, and the total allocated budget is 900’000 EUR for the Swiss part o
f the projects. These funds will be used for RD&I activities carried out b
y researchers\, institutions and companies according to the funding rules
and legal frameworks of their respective FPOs.\n\nEligible applicants:\n\n
All Swiss applicants and co-applicants must be eligible for the SNSF Proje
ct Funding Scheme. Please note that applications submitted by a non-eligib
le person will not be considered nor evaluated. Please refer to the regula
tions and contact the national contact person for questions and re-assuran
ce. Notice that Switzerland is among the countries involved in the Joint C
all\, in the category „Third countries and other countries“. Researche
rs from Switzerland should therefore not be considered as self-funded part
ners.\n\nConsortium composition:\n \n\n	Each consortium must be composed
of at least a minimum of three eligible partners that request funding from
participating Funding Partner Organisations from three different countrie
s.\n	The projects must involve at least two independent legal entities fro
m two different EU Member States or Horizon Europe associated countries as
recipients of the financial support.\n	The upper limit of eligible projec
 t partners per consortium is 7 (including 1 self-funded partner).\n	The ma
ximum number of partners from the same country within the consortium must
comply with national/regional regulations.\n	For proposals involving up to
5 partners\, maximum two entities that are also involved in the Water4all
partnership may participate in the same proposal. Larger proposals may in
volve up to three entities that are also involved in the Water4all partner
ship.\n	In each proposal\, one of the entities must act as the Consortium
Coordinator which has the responsibility for submitting the proposal.\n	Th
e Consortium Coordinator must be eligible for funding by a FPO of this cal
 l. The P.I. of the entity acting as Consortium Coordinator can only partic
ipate in one proposal (i.e. if the principal investigator is the Consortiu
m Coordinator of a proposal\, he/she cannot participate in any other propo
sal\, neither as a Consortium Coordinator nor as Principal Investigator of
a partner).\n\n\nFunding:\nTo provide for a greater degree of flexibility
\, there is no maximum contribution set per project for the Swiss part. Ne
vertheless\, budgets of a collaborative research project must be balanced
and the SNSF expects that applicants carefully consider the budgetary requ
est in a relation to the effective needs of the project.\n\nEligible costs
:\nAccording to the regulations on project funding (article 8). The eligib
le costs are the same as for SNSF Project Funding (see EPFL Instructions f
or SNSF Project Funding).\n\nThe SNSF exclusively funds research conducted
for purposes that are not directly commercial. Pursuant to the Research a
nd Innovation Promotion Act RIPA and the legal framework of the SNSF\, no
research grants are awarded if the relevant research is conducted for dire
ctly commercial purposes or if the persons involved in the research work a
re not scientifically independent.\n\nSubmission process:\n\n\n	Swiss base
d partners must provide basic administrative data by submitting administra
tive applications via the online submission system mySNF for the same dead
lines as the consortium applications. For this\, Swiss based partners need
a personal account on www.mySNF.ch.\n	Please select the “Projects/Partn
erships/Water4All” funding instrument when creating the administrative a
pplication for the pre-proposal and “Projects/Partnerships/Water4All”
if you are invited to submit a proposal for the second stage. The pre-prop
osal can be used as a template when the full proposal is created in mySNF
and should be referred to in the section “Relation to pre-proposal” of
the full proposal.\n	In case of funding\, consortia including Swiss partn
ers must submit a data management plan (DMP) on mySNF which complies with
the SNSF policy on open research data.\n	The pre-proposal and the full pro
