for improving and engaging in diverse teams in the Swiss (Geo)science comm
unity.\n\nWho is the workshop for?\nGeoscientists of all backgrounds\, gro

Questions from the audience\n9:45 – 10:30     Christopher Jackson
 – Talk + Discussion: Can Geology Save the World?\n“Geology is importa
nt\, with the application of geological principles providing the energy
that powers economic development\, and keeping people safe from a wide
range of geohazards. However\, student numbers in geology are falling\,
at least inthe UK\, with geology being one of the least diverse subjects
in more-or-less every sense. In this talk I will look at how making geo
logy more diverse can help the disciplinemaximize its positive impact o
 n global society.”\n10:30 – 11:00    Coffee break / catch-up time\n
11:00 – 12:15     Siara Isaac – Workshop: Tools for equitable collab
oration and decision making\n“There is good evidence that diverse teams
can be more productive and effective than homogeneous teams\, but d
iverse teams generate more issues around ethical interaction. This worksh
op will provide you with tools to be more aware of when/how issues ari
se and strategies to work more productively and fairly in across cultur
es\, disciplines and languages. These tools will be immediately applicabl
e in your current projects\, and also form a solid basis of intercultura
l communication for working in international and multinational contexts.
