DESCRIPTION:Michel Bierlaire\, Claudia R. Binder\, Marie Brault\, Marine V
illaret.\n\nExperts in the field of: Transport and Mobility\, Human-Enviro
ment Relations in Urban Systems\, Food and Agro-Ecology and Landscape Urba
nism.\nSUPERSTUDIO FORUM III PISTIS exhibits the current collected certain
ties from 6 studios envisioning Latent Futures of the Grand Geneva area. D
uring the two day forum formal and informal talks will be accompanied by 3
round tables focused on future visions of our built environment. Leaning
on Platons Analogy of the divided line\, PISTIS can be seen as an importan
t stepping stone towards the researchers’ conceptual thinking and the es
sence of the idea\, which will be further distilled until the end of the s
emester.\nThe Forum PISTIS is dedicated to rhetorical exchange of the curr
ent ideas. On the basis of Sébastien Marot’s "Taking The Countryside”
student-researchers\, guests the public are able to discuss 32 future hyp
othesis and express their firm conviction\, reliability\, confidence.\n\nP
LATON ( 428-348 BC ) sees in the term PISTIS (πίστις firm convictio
n\, reliability\, confidence) an ambiguity: on the one hand it is certaint
y through the immediacy of perception\, but on the other hand\, since sens
ory experience can never guarantee knowledge vouched for by ideas alone\,
it is based on mere opinion (δόξα) and is thus contrasted with knowled
ge as ‘faithʼ.\nARISTOTELES (384-322 BC) \, for whom PISTIS is a kind o
f proof (ἀπόδειξίς τις) in the rhetorical field\, systematise
s the various pisteis and makes them the basis of his rhetoric. "The syste
m of proofs (πίστεις) may be called the core of Aristotle's Rhetori
 c”.[1]\n \n[1] G.Gabriel\, K.Gründer\, J.Ritter: Historisches Worterbu
 ch Der Philosophie. Schwabe\, 2007.\n_____________________________________
 ____________________________________________\n\nSUPERSTUDIO is a prospecti
ve and collective studio that examines the possibilities of imagination an
d realization of latent futures. Through its title Latent Futures\, Supers
tudio intends to explore visions and attitudes capable of seriously confro
nting the present environmental condition. Superstudio lands thus in the t
erritory of the Grand Genève to reflect and act on the multiple dimension
s of the environmental crisis (climatic change\, biodiversity collapse\, w
 ater scarcity\, erosion of soils\, energetic descent\, etc ). The future (
and the future of architectural practice) will be scrutinized with the aid
of four narratives developed by Sébastien Marot for the exhibition "Taki
ng The Country's Side". By applying these narratives to the specific terri
tory of the Grand Genève\, the studio will pursue a speculative research-
oriented nature developed over previous years\, adding a layer of reflecti
on. The studio will conclude with a public exhibition in Archizoom.\n \nT
