  EPFL\nThe CLIMACT seminar series “A Climate of Transformation” is an 
 interactive online event. It takes place twice a month\, every second Mond
 ay during your lunch break\, with two new speakers.\nEach episode aims to 
 strengthen the dialogue and collaboration between key UNIL and EPFL scient
 ists\, swiss politicians\, entrepreneurs and various actors from the civil
  society\, through collective reflection.\nA wide range of climate change-
 related topics will be discussed\, integrating perspectives from all secto
 rs and academic disciplines in order to generate new leads and initiatives
  towards systemic solutions.\nYour expertise\, ideas\, critical thinking a
 nd vision for the future is essential. \nJoin CLIMACT in the discussion!\
 n\n(Democratically) legitimate climate action?\nPresented by Karin Ingold 
 I University of Bern & EAWAG - President of ProClim\n\n\nTo reach net zero
  society\, a sustainability transition in different systems such as food\,
  electricity\, or transport is needed. What is the role policy and politic
 s can play therein? What action seems (democratically) legitimate and at t
 he same time fulfilling principles of sustainability? Are democracies sust
 ainable\; and is sustainability democratic? To answer these questions\, I 
 will outline the climate performance of different states and political sys
 tems at first place. I will then talk about the role of science and civil 
 societal action. I will conclude with some compatible forms of decision-ma
 king that fulfil both\, sustainability and democracy principles.\n\nClimac
