DESCRIPTION:Farokh Mivehvar (Institute for Theoretical Physics\, Univers
ity of Innsbruck)\nExperimental progress in strongly coupling quantum gase
s into quantized electromagnetic fields of quantum cavities has opened a n
ew avenue in many-body physics --- referred to commonly as many-body cavi
ty quantum electrodynamics (QED) --- where the dynamics of both quantum m
atter and electromagnetic fields play equally essential roles. In this tal
k\, after a short review of state of the art in many-body cavity QED Prof
. Farokh Mivehvar will present some of their recent theoretical works on
many-body fermionic cavity QED. In particular\, he will talk about superr
adiant topological Peierls insulators\, Hofstadter butterfly in a cavity-i
nduced dynamic synthetic magnetic field\, and antiferromagnetic self-orde
ring of a Fermi gas in a ring cavity.\n\nIn-person with online live-stream
available. Coffee and refreshments will be served. \n\nThis seminar is
part of the series on Quantum Science & Technology and Condensed Matter Ph
 ysics.
