DESCRIPTION:\n\nIRP – International Foundation for Research in Paraplegi
 a allocates funds to support basic and clinical research in paraplegia in 
 Switzerland and around the world\, on the recommendation of the IRP Scient
 ific Committee\, for projects based in Europe\, an independent body compos
 ed of international experts in the field of neuroscience.\n \n\n\n\n\n\nT

 cope:\nIRP invites researchers active in the field of basic or clinical re
 search on CNS Regeneration\, Neuroprotection and functional restoration wi
 th special emphasis to the spinal cord to submit their application for an 
 IRP Research Grant. Proposals will be evaluated on the basis of scientific
  quality and relevance to paraplegia for research proposals studying mecha
 nisms of injury and repair\, as well as long term recovery. Research proje
 cts may address all aspects of CNS and spinal cord lesions\, nerve regener
 ation\, trophic support of lesioned neurons\, and functional changes induc
 ed by lesions\, preferentially in mammals. Clinical research projects can 
 be situated in the fields of diagnosis\, acute lesion management including
  surgery\, neurology\, urology\, rehabilitation\, and other areas related 
 to paraplegia.\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nFunding: \nUp to 150\,000 Swiss Fr
 ancs for two years\nThe Grant doesn’t cover additional overhead costs.\n
 \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nEligibility:\nResearchers of any nationality\nProjects
  must be realized in Europe.\nApplications from Junior groups are welcome.

 rojects submitted for an IRP Research Grant undergo a rigorous selection p
 rocess by the IRP Scientific Committee.\n \n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nIRP 
 Post-doctoral Fellowship\n\n\n\n\nScope: \nIn line with its mission to enc
 ourage young scientists to focus their work on research into paraplegia\, 
 IRP invites them to submit their application for an IRP Postdoctoral Fell
 owship. Subsidies are of the following types:\n\n\n	A fellowship for up to
  2 years in an outstanding basic research laboratory specialised in one or
  several aspects of CNS and spinal cord lesions and repair\, preferentiall
 y in mammals. A 3rd year may be attributed to a fellow who returns to Swit
 zerland from abroad.\n	A 1 year fellowship in a clinical research laborato
 ry situated in the fields of diagnosis and acute lesion management of spin
 al cord injury\, including surgery\, neurology\, urology\, rehabilitation\
 , and other areas related to paraplegia.\n\nFunding and allowances:\nUp to
  CHF 80\,000.- per year up to 2 years distributed as:\n\n	Living allowance
 : 70’000.- CHF/year\n	Research and travel allowance: up to 9’000.- CHF
 /year\n	Family support and child allowances can be paid depending on the 
 fellow’s situation.\n	Laboratory financial backing to be discussed on a 
 per case basis\n\nEligibility:\n- Young Swiss researcher wanting to study 
 overseas\n- or a young overseas researcher wanting to pursue his/her acade
 mic career in Switzerland.\n\nApplication:\nInvitation to apply \n\nEvalua
 tion criteria:\n\n\n\n\n\nResearch projects submitted for an IRP Postdocto
 ral Fellowship undergo a rigorous selection process by the IRP Scientific 
 Committee\, focused on criteria of excellence.\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
