DESCRIPTION:Established in Zurich in 2003\, the Synapsis Foundation – Al
 zheimer Research Switzerland ARS supports research on Alzheimer’s diseas
 e and other neurodegenerative disorders to find a cure in the near future\
 , to raise awareness and to promote Switzerland as a research and economic
  centre.\n\nIn particular\, the foundation promotes innovative basic and c
 linical research on Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative diso
 rders\, welcoming high-risk proposals based on sound science and truly ori
 ginal ideas related to the following topics:\n\n	Research in genetics\, mo
 lecular and cell biology of Alzheimer’s disease or neurodegenerative dis
 orders.\n	Innovative clinical approaches towards the pre-symptomatic diagn
 osis or therapeutic interventions in neurodegenerative diseases. \n\n\nEve
 ry year\, the foundation launches two calls for proposals:\n \n\n	RESEARC
 H GRANT FOR PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATORS\n\n\n\n	The aim of this grant is to pr
 omote innovative research projects of established research groups.  \n	Wh
 o can apply: independent principal investigators at Swiss universities and
  research institutions.\n	Funding & Duration: max. CHF 300’000 for up to
  3 years.\n	Eligible costs: personnel (excl. the PI’s salary) and resear
 ch-related costs. Does NOT cover overheads.\n	Application: please have a l
 ook at the call guidelines and application form for basic and pre-clinical
  research or application form for clinical research (scientific informatio
 n max. 6 pages).\n\n \n\n\n	CAREER DEVELOPMENT AWARD \n\n\n\n	The aim of 
 this grant is to accelerate the transition of advanced postdoctoral resear
 chers at Swiss universities and research institutions to a faculty positio
 n in Switzerland or other EMBO country.\n	Funding & Duration: CHF 400’00
 0 for 4 years → Phase 1: 1-2 years of PostDoc in a host laboratory in Sw
 itzerland\; Phase 2: 2-3 years in a faculty/group leader position at a new
  institution/department in Switzerland or EMBO country.\n	Eligible costs: 
 personnel (incl. the PI’s salary only for phase 1) and research-related 
 costs. Does NOT cover overheads.\n	Application: please have a look at the

 ges\, excl. letter of support from head of unit confirming that you will b
