DESCRIPTION:Cyril Zipfel\, Institute of Plant and Microbial Biology\, Zuri
ch-Basel Plant Science Center\, University of Zurich\nPlant innate immunit
y relies on both cell-surface and intracellular immune receptors. In parti
cular\, receptor kinases act as pattern recognition receptors that sense m
icrobial and host-derived molecular patterns. Part of this first-line immu
ne response involves the dynamic production of immuno-modulatory secreted
signaling peptides\, termed phytocytokines. I will present our recent work
on phytocytokines\, their perception mechanisms\, and their potential fun
ctions as both amplifiers and executioners of plant immunity.\n\nCyril Zip
