DESCRIPTION:Nadinath B. Nillegoda Centre for Dementia and Brain Repair at
the Australian Regenerative Medicine Institute Monash University\, Melbour
ne\, Australia\nCells have evolved multitiered protein quality control sy
stems to help maintain protein homeostasis\, but under acute or chronic pr
oteotoxic stresses\, these systems overload and result in accumulation of
toxic protein aggregates. Decreased cellular capacity in aggregate clearan
ce could trigger cell dysfunction and death leading to disease and ageing.
Human cells possess an Hsp70-based disaggregase system to resolve a wide
range of protein aggregates. It is not clear how these disaggregases are a
ssembled and regulated in mammals. We report the identification of a dedic
ated pathway for rapidly assembling protein disaggregases during stress re
covery after protein damage and outlines how aggregate clearance is orches
trated in primate cells. \n\nThe zoom link is https://epfl.zoom.us/j/680
