CATEGORIES:Call for proposal
DESCRIPTION:Aim:  There are currently no FDA approved disease-modifying t
reatments available for frontotemporal dementia (FTD)\, and symptomatic tr
eatments only provide limited benefit for patients. Recent scientific adva
nces have provided an increased understanding of pathogenic mechanisms und
erlying FTD and are driving the development of potential disease-modifying
therapies. The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation (ADDF) and The Ass
ociation for Frontotemporal Degeneration (AFTD) seek to accelerate this pr
ogress by supporting innovative small molecule and biologic (antibodies\,
oligonucleotides\, peptides\, gene therapy etc.) drug development programs
for FTD through this request for proposals (RFP).\n\nThe funding prioriti
es for this RFP are:\n\n	Lead optimization of novel disease-modifying comp
ounds\, including medicinal chemistry refinement and in vitro ADME.\n	In v
ivo testing of novel lead compounds\, biologics\, vaccines\, or repurposed
drug candidates in relevant animal models for pharmacokinetics\, dose-ran
ge finding\, target engagement\, in vivo efficacy\, and/or preliminary rod
 ent tolerability studies.\n\n\nFunding:       $150\,000 - $200\,000\n
 \nDuration:      1 year\, with potential for follow-up funding\n\nElig
ibility: Funding is open to researchers and clinicians worldwide at academ
ic medical centers and universities or nonprofits. Industry partnerships a
re encouraged.\n\nHow to Apply: Applications are reviewed in a two-step pr
ocess: Letters of Intent (LOI) are the first step\, and are submitted thro
ugh the ADFF Funding Portal. ADDF’s science team will evaluate LOIs to d
etermine whether the proposed project is consistent with the ADDF's missio
n and funding priorities. LOI decisions will be sent within three weeks of
submission. Step 2 is an invited full proposal\, which should include a d
etailed project narrative\, budget and justification\, and biographical in
formation.  When formulating the budget\, note that the following costs a
re not covered: Indirect costs/Overhead\, Publication costs\, Equipment\,
and Travel. See the full Application Instructions for more details.\n\nDea
 dlines:    19 May 2023 (letter of intent)\n
            28 July 2023 (full proposal\, by invitation)\n\nFurthe
r information\n\n\n	More information about the program is available here\n
Detailed application instructions are here\n	The application portal can b
e found here\n	For any other questions\, please contact the Research Offic
