DESCRIPTION:The State Secretariat for Education\, Research and Innovation 
 (SERI) mandated the ETH Zurich as Leading House for bilateral collaboratio
 n with partner institutions in East and Southeast Asia. In 2023\, the Lead
 ing House Asia ETH Zurich opened a call for proposals for opportunity gran
 ts with China\, Japan\, South Korea and the ASEAN member states\, incl. Ho
 ng Kong\, Macao and Taiwan.\n\nWho can apply :\n\n	The call is open to al
 l scientific disciplines and fields of research\, including social science
 s and the humanities.\n	Postdoctoral scientists\, senior scientists and pr
 ofessors of Swiss federal and cantonal universities\, universities of appl
 ied sciences\, universities of teacher education\, as well as public resea
 rch institutes\, are eligible to apply. \n	Please check the eligible inst
 itutions here.\n	The main applicant must be employed at one of the aforeme
 ntioned Swiss institutions.\n	Researchers of all nationalities are eligibl
 e to apply as main applicant.\n\nIf in doubt or in case you are not sure w
 hether your position is eligible to act as a Principle Investigator (PI)\,

 to 50\,000\nProject duration: up to 12 months\n\nFor what\n\n	Support to b
 ottom-​up initiatives of Swiss researchers linked to specific events or 
 incidents in the partner countries (China\, Japan\, South Korea\, ASEAN\, 
 incl. Hong Kong\, Macao and Taiwan).\n	Examples of events: large public ha
 ppenings (such as the Olympic Games\, international or national exposition
 s/biennales)\, major environmental events (such as the implications of a t
 yphoon\, earthquake or tsunami)\, major economic and political development
 s (such as the geopolitical implications of a presidential visit or a shif
 t of power in a government)\, launch of a new public policy (such as new i
 mpactful agriculture or migration policies).\n	Examples of activities: org
 anisation of thematic events for a broader audience or application of a Sw
 iss technology or research results \n	Objective: increase the visibility o
 f Swiss science and technology abroad or apply its results to a concrete d
 evelopment or challenge.\n	The call is open to all disciplines.\n\nEligibl
 e costs: travel\, accommodation costs\, project consumables and equipment\
 , logistics. Does NOT cover research projects\, salaries or scientific exc
