 L\nThe first part of this talk is dedicated to the design and implementati
 on of a piezomotor driven SQUID magnetometer capable of running at tempera
 tures below 100 mK. The overall design is presented with key components ex
 plained in detail.\nThe second part describes a comprehensive experimental
  study of a new model spin-glass series LiHoxEr1-xF4\, which combines the 
 Ising anisotropy of ferromagnetic LiHoF4 with the XY anisotropy of antifer
 romagnetic LiErF4.
