 sity of Freiburg (DE)\nWEEKLY EPFL BIOE TALKS SERIES\n\nAbstract:\nIn most
  bacteria\, cell division depends on the tubulin homolog FtsZ and other pr
 oteins that form a large complex termed the divisome. This complex is comp
 osed of many proteins that together ensure proper execution of cell divisi
 on resulting in two daughter cells of the same size and DNA content.  Man
 y archaea employ FtsZ homologs for cell division\, but beside these homolo
 gs and the FtsZ membrane anchor SepF no other proteins being part of their
  cell division system have been identified.\nHere\, we demonstrate that th
 ree homologous proteins\, all composed of a single conserved protein domai
 n\, partially play important roles in cell division in the euryarchaeon Ha
 loferax volcanii. These proteins were identified by immunoprecipitation ex
 periments and are from now on termed CdpB1-3 (cell division protein B). I 
 will discuss the roles of the CdpB proteins during cell division in haloar
