Field addresses elemental habitats of soil\, water and air – first for t
heir own sake\, then as the basis for regional conservation efforts\, and
finally as material and energetic cycles enabling the creation of a ‘sec
ond nature’.\n\nIn the context of Open Fields Lunch Discussion Series\,
we invite you to participate in landscape Habitats lunch seminar on the to
pic of Metabolic landscapes. This event will provide an opportunity to int
eract with researchers in various interdisciplinary fields and to foster n
ew collaborations within the EPFL scientific community.\n\nIn the urbaniza
tion transition taking place in cities around the world today\, human-clim
ate interactions with the Metabolic Landscapes are an important area of in
terrogation as they provide an opportunity to explore how city expansion i
s adapting to the effects of climate change\, and how urban design and pla
nning can foster resilience and self-reliance in the city in relation to i
ts own territories. We would also like to explore how cities are creating
significant and consequential infrastructure in its large geography which
is changing the nature of the city's landscape and its territory.\n\nSpeak
