DESCRIPTION:The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiativ
 e (SFARI) is to improve the understanding\, diagnosis and treatment of aut
 ism spectrum disorders (ASD) by funding innovative research of the highest
  quality and relevance. Grants awarded through the Cross-Species Studies o
 f ASD request for applications (RFA) are intended to support multi-discipl
 inary teams of PIs with expertise in both human and animal research to per
 form coordinated cross-species studies to advance our understanding of ASD
 -relevant behaviors and their underlying neurobiological mechanisms\, with
  the potential for developing novel biomarkers or interventions.\n\nDurati
 on:      2-3 years\n\nFunding:       max. $400\,000/year\n\nElig
 ibility: All applicants and key collaborators must hold a Ph.D.\, M.D. or 
 equivalent degree and have a faculty position or the equivalent at a colle
 ge\, university\, medical school or other research facility. Applications 
 may be submitted by domestic and foreign nonprofit organizations. There ar
 e no citizenship or country requirements.\n\nHow to Apply: Applications mu
 st be submitted via the Simons Award Manager (SAM)\, and will consist of p
 ersonal information\, list of PIs and co-PIS\, administrative contacts\, a
  budget\, and proposal narrative. Budgets should be formulated to include 
 20% overhead. Contact the Research Office for assistance with the budget o
