DESCRIPTION:In this training\, we provide practical information and guidan
ce on how to use the SPHN Federated Query System (FQS) for feasibility ass
essments of research projects.  \nThe SPHN FQS allows researchers to que
ry data from all five Swiss university hospitals using a single tool. Rese
archers can search harmonized data coded in national and international ter
minologies and assess whether and where there are patients or patient data
that may be relevant to a particular research question.\nThe FQS allows r
esearchers to assess the feasibility of their project by running simple qu
eries against a subset of clinical data from all five hospitals. It also e
nables the creation and optimization of inclusion and exclusion criteria f
or study protocols. Queries may include demographic information (age and g
ender)\, diagnosis (ICD-10)\, procedures (CHOP)\, medication (ATC) and lab
test (LOINC) and lab results with units (according to UCUM).\n\nCurrently
\, the system includes over 130 Mio data elements from over 600’000 pati
ents\, who signed a general consent. The data in FQS is completely anonymi
zed\, and hospitals retain full control of their data at all times because
queries are performed in a decentralized manner.\nLearning outcomes: \n-
Use the FQS\, create queries and interpret the results \n- Understand the
potential and limitations of the SPHN FQS \nTarget audience: \nThe prima
ry target of this training are ETH Researchers interested in accessing and
using the system.\nRequirements: \nNew users are asked to register for an
account for the SPHN FQS through the BioMedIT portal prior to the trainin
 g (find instructions here: https://sphn.ch/document/sphn-federated-query-s
 ystem-access/)\nFormat: Webinar\nDate: 16 June 2023 \nTime: 11h00-12h00\nD
irect registration link: https://rb.gy/zfemk \nFor more information about
the event\, please contact the EPFL Research Office at research@epfl.ch.\n
