DESCRIPTION:Aim:  Researchers\, Swiss & USA\,  will submit one joint app
lication to the relevant Lead Agency (2023: SNSF or 2024: NSF). The projec
ts must have a joint research question and research plan. The parts of the
project conducted in each country are not independent projects and cannot
be carried out separately.\n\nAmount:  Costs are calculated on the basis
of the relevant national guidelines.\n\n	On average:  CHF 250\,000 / yr.
for duration of grant\n	Maximum total project cost: CHF 1 million / year\
n\nDuration: 48 months maximum or as specified in the NSF Program\n\nSNSF
Project Funding umbrella: \n\n\n	Researchers may submit a Lead Agency app
lication if there are no thematic overlaps with applications under evaluat
ion at the SNSF or with ongoing projects.\n\n\n\n	If an investigator curre
ntly has SNSF funding or an application is in the pipeline\, s/he may appl
y if there is no overlap.\n	Swiss applicants cannot simultaneously submit
any further SNSF project funding applications.\n\nOverlapping funding peri
ods:\n\n\n	Up to 3 project funding grants that overlap in time (if at leas
t one of them is approved for a Lead Agency/Weave project\, International
 Co-Investigator Scheme\, or for European consortium project).\n	Sinergia a
nd SNSF career grants count as project funding grants\n	Each investigator
may participate as an applicant in one proposal / call\n\nImportant Deadli
nes\, SNSF: \n\n\n	Expression of Interest: 02 August 2023\; must be submi
tted by US partner to NSF.  \n	Proposal: 02 October (EOI: 02 August 2023)
\n	\n Expected to adhere to the research areas\, funding limits\, and gra
nt durations for the participating NSF programs and for the SNSF programs
from which funding is sought. \n As details vary by NSF program\, U.S. P
rincipal Investigators (PI) are strongly encouraged to contact program dir
ectors of pertinent NSF programs for specific guidance.\n The full propos
al should be submitted within 12 months of the EOI being approved.  \n	\
n	\n	Review Process: the review process will follow the same evaluation pr
ocess as SNSF Project Funding process. \n	SNSF will be the Lead Agency in
the first year and will accept proposals October 2nd\, 2023.\n\nImportant
Deadlines\, USA-NSF:\n\n\n	Purpose of EOI: The EOIs will be used to deter
mine eligibility for the Lead Agency Opportunity.\n	The NSF will notify ap
plicant 30 calendar days before proposals are due.  \n	After approval of
the EOI by the NSF\, the full proposal can be submitted to the Lead Agenc
 y.  \n	If the EOI has not been approved by NSF prior to submission of a
full proposal\, the proposal will not be considered for evaluation (i.e.\,
may be returned without review).\n\nEligibility\n\n\n	Eligibility of PIs
to submit proposals is subject to each agency's respective eligibility rul
es and policies\, as spelled out in the NSF Proposal and Award Policies an
d Procedures Guide (PAPPG) and/or the NSF solicitation to which a proposal
will be submitted\, and SNSF’s regulations and guidelines.\n	SNSF as Le
ad Agency\n	NSF as Lead Agency\n\nImportant US Partner Information\n\n\n	E
xpression of Interest (EOI):  The US applicant must submit an EOI describ
ing the entire project to the NSF regardless of whether the lead lies with
the SNSF or NSF\n	The applicants based in the USA need to submit the prop
osal to the NSF after the project has been accepted for funding \n\nUS ap
plicants can apply to selected NSF Directorates & Divisions: The Lead Agen
cy Procedure starts with these (selected\, not all participate) Directorat
es and Divisions of the US National Science Foundation:\n\n\n	Directorate
for Biological Sciences (BIO) \n	\n Division of Molecular and Cellular B
 iosciences (MCB) \n	\n	\n	Directorate for Geological Sciences (GEO) \n	D
irectorate for Mathematical and Physical Sciences (MPS)\n	\n Astronomical
Sciences (AST) \n Division of Mathematical Sciences (DMS)\n Division o
 f Physics (PHY) \n	\n	\n	Directorate for Engineering (ENG) \n	Directorat
e for Social\, Behavioral and Economic Sciences (SBE) \n	\n Division of
Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences (BCS) \n Division of Social and Econom
ic Sciences (SES) \n	\n	\n\nUS applicants are strongly encouraged to cont
act the Program Officer of the relevant Directorate/Division to ensure the
scope of the project falls within the Directorate/Division’s remit.\n\n
