 ew Capture Calculus and its impact in the larger programming languages lan
 dscape.\n\nScala has a unique role between functional and object-oriented 
 programming\, between cutting-edge research and mainstream industries. Fil
 ling this role is not always easy. In my talk I give an overview where Sca
 la stands now\, what some of the challenges are\, and I outline our vision
