DESCRIPTION:Joelyn De Lima\nJoelyn de Lima is an educational researcher (W
 .K. Kellogg Biological Station\, Michigan State University\, USA) and a pe
 dagogical advisor (EPFL\, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lau
 sanne\, Switzerland). She is a scientist whose research focuses on evalua
 ting and understanding the efficacy of instructional and assessment techni
 ques\, a trained educator with experience in teaching at school and univer
 sity levels\, a pedagogical advisor with expertise in STEM pedagogy\, and 
 an experienced science communicator who has worked to engage and share kno
 wledge with a wide variety of audiences in multiple countries. Her backgro
 und has given her a unique blend of perspectives – in terms of culture (

 ng (natural sciences and education)\, and practice (research & education\,
  formal & informal education\, K-12 & university level).\nThe ENAC Diversi
 ty Office is pleased to announce the launch of the Diversity Lunches ser
 ies\, which will focus on discussing methods and techniques that promote\,
  champion and encourage diversity and inclusion in your professional and e
 ducational settings. \n\nWith this series\, we aim to engage those of you
  who have an interest in diversity and inclusion\, regardless of your acad
 emic\, student\, technical\, or administrative position. We would like to 
 foster discussion\, learn from each other\, and exchange experiences regar
 ding diversity. \n\nThe inaugural event – Diversity in Teaching – w
 ill be on the 18th July - GC B1 10\n\nOur guest speaker\, Joelyn De Lim
 a will lead the workshop “Exploring Universal Design for Learning”.\n

  focuses on eliminating barriers by consider the needs of diverse people. 
 Such practices have the potential to improve educational outcomes - not on
 ly for the target populations\, but for other students as well.\nAfter thi
 s workshop you will be able to:\n\n	Describe the philosophy and the three 
 principles of Universal Design for Learning.\n	Design/redesign courses / a
 ctivities / materials using Universal Design for Learning to promote incl
 usivity.\n\n\n\n
