DESCRIPTION:Prof. Marina Hassapopoulou (New York University)\, Ingrid Maso
n (National Film and Sound Archive of Australia)\, Prof. Matthias Grotkopp
(Freie Universität Berlin)\, Prof. Mark Williams & Dr John P. Bell (Dart
mouth College)\, Dr Luca Rossetto (University of Zurich)  \nExpanding our
areas of inquiry builds new routes for the field. In recent years\, audio
visual (AV) content\, with its growing accessibility\, rich hidden meaning
s\, and complexity in modality\, became a new frontier for research in hum
anities and computational domains. The quest for properly and meaningfully
opening up the variety of information (such as historical\, social\, affe
ctive\, and aesthetic) available in the ever-increasing audiovisual (AV) m
aterials requires a collective effort from both sides to co-create not onl
y new methods but also new research questions. This transdisciplinary task
pushes us to work across ossified divisions\, such as the “Humanities
” and “Sciences”\, in ways that can help us realise a more collabora
tive\, equitable\, and generous configuration of the field of Digital Huma
 nities.\n\nSpanning through the 25th and 26th of September\, this 2-day wo
rkshop (2 ECTS)\, will cover both the theoretical and practical aspects o
f processing and utilising audiovisual data (generously provided by our pa
rtners)\, and provide an entry point and a test field for researchers from
EPFL working on digital humanities\, audiovisual content understanding\,
and HCI to formulate and validate new ideas.\n\nWe welcome students and re
searchers who are curious about:\n\n	introducing audiovisual data as mater
ials for humanities and sociological studies\;\n	developing and improving
computational methods for processing and extracting features from audiovis
ual content with real-world applications\;\n	scoping creative and artistic
  data-driven experiences and interaction.\n\n\n\nMore Info & Apply Here \
nThe deadline for submitting the application form is 31st August 2023. \
nThe result will be communicated via email to each applicant by Early Sep
 tember 2023.\nWorkshop date: 25-26 September
